This year, South African Friends of Israel (SAFI) and the Jewish National Fund (JNF) are celebrating Tu B’Shvat, the New Year of Trees, by partnering with the Seeds of Hope Community Gardening Project in Khayelitsha.  Based at the Makukhanye Centre, Pastor Aaron Makili and his team have planted a community kitchen garden on the good sized plot surrounding their community centre.  The garden consists of vegetables and herbs and the produce is used in the soup kitchen, also based at the Makukhanye Centre, which daily feeds 230 individuals (including many…

We have been so sad to learn of the passing of Milton Gerdis. Milton was a valued member of the SAZF (Cape Council) Management Committee for several years and made valuable contributions to the efficient working of the organisation.
