We support Israel’s right to exist
We the Concerned Clergy of the Western Cape (CCWC) hereby declare our Stand and Support for Israel.
Our support is based on Biblical and Historical facts. From the earliest Bible passages, GOD promised the Land of Israel to the Patriarch Abraham and to his descendants.
We will stand up for the truth in the midst of the increasing hostility towards the Jewish people wherever they may be.
As the CCWC in sincerity we repent for the persecution of the People of Israel over many centuries brought about by those under the banner of Christianity. As the CCWC we disassociate ourselves from this degenerated injustice.
Israel, like any other nation has flawed policies. However Israel has a right to exist and should be respected as a sovereign state. South Africa and any country have a moral authority to advise Israel if they disapprove of Israel’s policies; however that moral authority must be applied to other Nations as well. If South Africa claims the moral right to instruct Israel, why is it not?
- • Telling China to stop illegal expansion in the Pacific Ocean and at its’ Indian borders?
- • Calling for an end to Turkey’s illegal occupation in Cypress and expansionism in Syria?
South Africa’s silence regarding these would indicate that they respect the decisions made by these countries.
The South African government’s double standards are being exposed all the time for not addressing the issues of human rights violations in other parts of the world.
China is not a democracy, they are not operating under the rule of law and it has put a million Muslims in detention camps. This begs a question, “why is the pressure on Israel and not on China and other Countries?” This is applying double standards. The South African government votes against Israel, however freely gives support to corrupt governments and movements around the world which are supportive of terrorism also to anti-Israel campaigning, resulting in the spreading of hatred towards the Jewish people.
How many times does Israel still have to reach out to have “Peace Talks” which are continuously rejected by the Palestinian leaders in the West Bank and Gaza?
BDS/Africa4Palestine campaigns and initiatives question the legitimacy of Israel. They call Israel an Apartheid State. Since I and members of the CCWC visited Israel after having experienced the full brutality of Apartheid in South Africa, we can testify to the fact that it is deceptive to liken the Apartheid era of South Africa to what it is like in Israel today. Anyone Religious or Political who really knows what Apartheid was and still makes such a claim regarding Israel is biased against what is really taking place in Israel.
The history of Israel is so rich and vast. We are continually amazed at the new discoveries made by archaeologists that confirm Israel’s identity as a nation.
When we listen to some of the anti-Israel campaigns in South Africa, we see and hear a lack of understanding of the history in relation to the Arab connection and the geography of the land in Israel.
Therefore, the Concerned Clergy Western Cape (CCWC) wish to express our solidarity and stand with Israel, for us it would be biblically and historically correct.
We the CCWC are praying and trusting that Israel and Palestinian leadership will find a peaceful solution to the strained and broken relationship. We also know that this is not going to be easy. Israel has been open to dialogue with the Palestinians who have, on numerous occasions turned the “Olive Branch”’ away. The Hamas charter remains an obstacle to any progress as it denies Israel any legitimacy on any of the land in question.
We also condemn the atrocious actions against the Jewish people in the strongest terms, which have been perpetrated against innocent civilians in Israel and Jews in other parts of the world, and that these are misreported because of an anti-Israel bias in the media.
Political and Religious across the world are silent, not standing up against the ongoing heinousness actions against the Jews.
To those we say who hate Israel…Psalm 129:5-6 please note that God isn’t speaking to a Nation or some Church denomination etc.; the people God is speaking to are “Those who hate Zion (Israel), whether they are professing Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus or any other religion. He is against those who hate Zion (Israel). The Holy Scriptures says: They will wither before HIM. Their doom is sealed.
Therefore we, the CCWC unapologetically stand with, and declare that Israel has every right to exercise her Sovereignty and right to defend her.
The conflict in Israel is about the land and the Jewish right to the Land. God says in the Bible that the Land is His and that title deed to the land belongs to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They are the only nation on this planet who has a title-deed to whom the Land was given to them by God. There is none on earth like it! At the centre of this struggle is Jerusalem, the one place on earth where God declared that He would place His name there forever.
God chose them for a purpose – I Chronicles 17:20-21; Romans 9:4
God made covenants with Israel which is eternal – Gen 17; Is. 54:8-10
God gave us our Saviour, Jesus Christ through the Jewish lineage. Our Holy Scriptures, the Bible was written by Jews. All of this gives us as Christians a connection with Israel, our Hebraic roots that cannot be changed or altered. When Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman he said……. “Salvation is of the Jews” “No Jews, no salvation” this is something that needs to sink in.
Without the Jews, we would have no Patriarchs, no Prophets, no Apostles; the Nations of the earth owe all that is most precious in their spiritual inheritance to the Jews that cannot be calculated.
We are therefore committed in our stand with Israel, and God says that he will honour and bless those who do, and curse those who curse Israel and the Jews. . Genesis 12:3
God gives us a choice, we can either receive a blessing or receive a curse and the choice is yours. If we as a Nation want to know God’s blessing we have to deal with the spirit of anti-Semitism.
As the CCWC, we are not in opposition to the Arab people living in Israel. In fact there are many of our Christian brothers and sisters in the faith living in Palestine and in Israel. Then there are Arabs living in Jerusalem and prefer living there. Therefore our stand is not an anti-Palestinian one, but a legal BIRTHRIGHT ISRAELI one.
We clearly understand that the battle is not against flesh and blood –Eph.6:12. The battle is against God and the fulfilment of His purpose through Israel/Jewish Nation. We also have a clear understanding that God promised that in the latter days the Jewish people will be returning to their promised land, their homeland. This is taking place even as you read this statement. This is all part of the REDEMPTIVE plan of God for Israel.
We the CCWC therefore call the Body of Christ to take their stand and be counted as those who will stand up for Israel in these closing days. So we call on the Christians to unite together and stand with Israel. The final curtain is about to be dropped.
“Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, May they prosper who love you” Psalm 122:6
When we in South Africa pray for the peace of Jerusalem as a Nation we will be blessed and we will prosper.
We the CCWC, therefore call on The President, the Government, and the Church in this beautiful Nation, South Africa to pray until God’s purpose for Israel will be worked out.
No other City in the World will know Peace, until Jerusalem knows Peace. When we do so we will be praying toward the Peace of South Africa.
A German Pastor Niemoller under the Nazis said: “First they came for the Socialist, and I did not speak out- because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the trade unionist, and I did not speak out- because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me- and there was no one to speak for me”.
